How can we help?

Our Space

Our counselling rooms offer a comfortable environment for you to relax and connect. Each room is set up with various sensory toys, lego tables, art and colouring stuff, things to hug and televisions to help you with YouTube therapy videos. The idea is that, if you choose, you can move around the room and play around with what’s on offer while also working with us on the things that are important to you.

Our Team

We have 2 experienced and qualified counsellors and a social worker who work with young people age 10- 25 years old who experience mild to moderate mental health issues, this can be social anxiety, anxiety, depression, stress, etc. We do not get too caught up in these labels as we see each person as individual and unique. For example, anxiety and stress are part of us. They do not define us; who we are, or what we can do. We use a variety of therapeutic models to help you manage and change issues that are problematic for you. We also teach skills and techniques for managing these issues in the real world so when you have finished your work with us you can get on with your life outside of the service and move forward with what is important to you.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

This is a therapy that is very active form of therapy not just “talking about problems’ but learning skills to handle difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions - not get rid of them, we can’t - so they have less impact on our day-to-day life. By this, we aim to develop psychological flexibility, so we are not so stuck in our thoughts or actions which do not work for us. As mentioned, this therapy is not just talking, it is active, ACT takes action to solve problems and make life better. The aim is to give you a skill or strategy to use and experiment with between each session. There is a lot of evidence of the effectiveness ACT in moving people toward what makes their life better. We look at your WHY, what is important to you, and how you want to be in the world.

Solution Focused Therapy

As the name suggested this is a future focused, goal directed and looks at solutions as opposed to problems. It is a brief therapy, constructing solutions, achieving and sustaining desired behavioral change. Solution-focused therapy flips the script on traditional approaches. Instead of dissecting problems and delving into the past, it empowers you to build a better future. Imagine describing your ideal life without the current struggles, then collaborating with a therapist to identify past successes and strengths that can be applied. This future-oriented therapy celebrates small wins, emphasizes your existing resources, and guides you to craft practical solutions tailored to your unique situation. It's a collaborative journey towards positive change, leaving you feeling hopeful and equipped to handle future challenges with newfound confidence.

Person Centred Therapy

This is what most people think of when they think about counselling. Teen life is tough, but therapy doesn't have to be! Person-centred therapy is like having a supportive friend. They listen without judgment and help you explore your feelings. It's like looking in a mirror, but with someone pointing out hidden strengths you didn't know you had. Forget lectures, this is about finding your own answers and building confidence to tackle anything life throws your way. No pressure, just you and your journey, one step at a time. It's not about fixing you, but about creating a space where you can blossom into the unique person you're meant to be. So, take a deep breath, step into the warm glow of person-centred therapy, and be ready to embark on a journey of self-acceptance and growth.
